Stork ETA Tuesday
Well even though it’s less than 2 weeks since the due date of June 27, the doctor/midwife advise inducing Tuesday/Wednesday. Since the main concern is not to have Bad Stuff (TM) happen, we’re going to go with that plan. Here’s what you do: call the hospital at 6am the morning you want to have your baby. They check to see if they have space for you. Barring a flood of pregnant people, you leave right away (because we live an hour away in Truro), and get to the hospital 7:30/8ish.
They put moderate levels of a synthetic version of a hormone that the mother’s body naturally creates into you, and voila, a baby is born. Downside: it’s somewhat faster than natural. Upside: it’s a little faster than natural.
So, we’ll see if they have space tomorrow morning and go for it. Meanwhile, Maggie is getting increasingly nervous. Seems simpler in the olden days, when you didn’t have to pick the time, and it was just forced on you. Although, you do have to deal with the uncertainty. Upside: won’t happen in the middle of the night, and won’t need a police escort.
