Nathaniel Update: 3 1/2 months

Nathaniel saw the pediatrician yesterday. He’s 13lbs 12 oz, 23 3/4 inches, 75th percentile for height and weight. Over the last week, he would suddenly arch his back and turn red and grunt, which looked alarming. Seems he’s having some acid reflux a little while after eating. Keeping him upright after eating will help. It should end at around six months old, when the stomach/esophagus get better developed. Something is also making him unsettled and he sure doesn’t sleep as much as the books say… We don’t know how he can go so long with so little sleep, just a nap a day if that, plus night-time.

Update: Doctor thinks he is probably going through a growth spurt, so needs to eat all the time and growing also gets in the way of sleeping. Then he will probably go into sleep cycle for a little while. All he wants to do today is stay eating. Makes it difficult for Maggie to get anything done. There’s a slight chance he’s starting to teethe, although it’s not common this early. Anyone know if a baby has all their teeth already, or if they have to be “grown”? Just curious.
